Prediction models for the kinetics of iron boride layers on AISI 316L steel

چکیده

Abstract The boronizing kinetics of AISI 316L steel has been analyzed by employing five prediction models. boron diffusion coefficients as well the growth rate constants in FeB and Fe 2 B phases were firstly evaluated range 1123-1223 K. Afterwards, values activation energies secondly deduced adopting Arrhenius relationships.In addition, models have validated experimentally for two conditions (1170 K 1.6 h 1210 1.1 h). predicted results deemed very concordant with experiments. Furthermore, advantages limitations about applicability these also discussed.
